Ship

They held each other tight as they watched their ship slowly descend into the icy black depths of the Atlantic OceanEven though he was shaking like a coracle in a hurricane and every breath he took racked him with unbearable pain, he had to find enough strength to tell her how he felt. NowBefore it was too late. He told her that he loved her; that she was his soul mate, his anchor; that he would die a thousand horrible deaths if it meant she would be safe and happy; would spend an eternity in this glacial ocean for her, and that nothing would ever or could ever sink their love; not even the icy grasp of impending death. He looked into her breathtaking aquamarine eyes and at that moment he felt safe and warm; buoyed by his love for her. Just as the last part of the ship still above water disappeared from sight a suitcase floated by them. Without saying a word, she let go of him and clung to it; and as she drifted farther and farther away from him she yelled, ‘Listen, I think we should see other people.’
